Historic 18th-century palace Coviella, near Arriondas, Cangas de Onís, Asturias, North West Spain. The palace was built in the 18th century, and the main building is over 1,000 square metres, set in grounds of almost 5 hectares.
There are also outbuildings, including stables of around 125 square metres, and a beautiful granary. Surrounded by a walled park and featuring a stately entrance gate, also dating from the 18th century. The grounds contain 7 building plots on which houses can be built.
Palacio de los Faes 1739 – Built in the Baroque style, it comprises three storeys and features the family coat of arms; the estate is surrounded by a wall and houses the palace and a large garden. Built around a medieval tower, it has undergone successive renovations from the Renaissance and Baroque periods to the present day. The palace was built in the 18th century, as was the chapel, on whose interior arch the inscription ‘seizo año 1739’ (built 1739) is still perfectly legible.
Inside, the palace retains its furniture, paintings, decorations and various references to its former glory. The surrounding gardens are extensive, with areas of centuries-old trees. On the main façade is the family coat of arms, dating from one of the renovations in 1767.
On the left-hand side, separated by a path but connected to the palace by an elevated passageway, stands the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception, built in 1728.
The main Baroque altarpiece, dating from the same century and featuring period sculptures, is one of the few of its kind to have been preserved in private chapels in Asturias.
The property has ten bedrooms and three bathrooms and comes with deisel powered heating. However, the bare facts don’t do this incredible place justice and as it is a property that has to be seen to be believed. This is a one of a kind opportunity so get in touch to arrange a visit.
