Roca Verde Apartment is our cosy and well-equipped holiday rental located in San Martín de Teverga, in the heart of the spectacular Ubiñas Natural Park, forty minutes south of the Asturian capital of Oviedo. It’s a stunning mountain location and ideal for anyone who loves the outdoors – a true paradise for keen hikers, rock climbers, bikers (road or MTB) and bird and wildlife enthusiasts (they don’t call these the ‘Valles del Oso’ or Valleys of the Bear for nothing!)
The ‘Senda del Oso’ bike trail runs right through Teverga and is hugely popular with families, with over 45km of gentle, completely car-free trail that wends its way through spectacular mountain scenery and dramatic gorges, along the path of a long-defunct mining railway. There are a number of local bike rentals that can cater for your needs – they even offer kiddie and doggy trailers for those with the littlest legs!
The village of San Martín makes a great base for your holiday, with everything you need right on your doorstep including a few small supermarkets, butchers and fishmongers for all your basic shopping needs. It also has plenty of bars and restaurants, and there is generally live music in one of the bars every weekend.
In the summer months there is a public outdoor pool in the centre of the village which is always a great hit with children and those looking to cool off after a hot day out in the mountains.
The apartment has been recently renovated and can sleep up to 5 people in three bedrooms (one double, one twin and one single). It has a fully equipped, eat-in kitchen, separate lounge and one bathroom. There is super-fast fibre optic internet so is suitable for full-on digital nomads or if you simply might need to do a bit of work whilst on your stay as well, of course, for simply streaming some movies after a hard day at the crag.
The apartment has views to the surrounding crags and is heated via a large pellet stove in the lounge that also pipes hot air to the bedrooms, making it a cosy option in winter months when, if you time it right, you might be able to get out snow-shoeing on the high trails that head off from the mountain passes above.
