A few days ago we advertised a house which we thought possibly had the best views in Asturias – well this one could rival it! This is another cracker, with lots of features that we know are important to our clients: a classic, traditional build, tasteful renovation, modern standards of comfort, knock-out views, a south-facing, well kept garden (with more land possible), and privacy….
Located on the edge of a small hamlet at 640m above sea-level the property enjoys uninterrupted mountain views over the Parque Natural de las Ubiñas. It is an architecturally typical Asturian stone-built house, complete with galería, that has been fully renovated and is in excellent condition. It even enjoys self-sufficiency in terms of electric consumption thanks to an extensive solar panel installation.
The ground floor has a small porch which leads from the garden to a cosy living room with exposed stone and a wood-burning stove. Also accessed from here is a fully fitted, modern kitchen with granite worktops. This has stunning views and has two sets of french doors which connect to the garden – opening these floods the room with light and makes the garden almost part of the house meaning it’s the perfect spot for outdoor living/entertaining. Currently there are two pergolas, outdoor seating and a barbecue.
Upstairs there are three good-sized double bedrooms’ (one with en-suite bathroom) and private terrace, all of which have plenty of natural light thanks to the large wood framed, double glazed windows and balcony doors. There is also a family bathroom on this first floor.
Externally there is a further 200m2 area of land which is contiguous with, but a step down from, the main garden that would make a perfect veggie plot. Alongside the property is a further field of 1,000m2 that could also be purchased in order to extend the garden. This 1,000m2 plot is not zoned as buildable but for the owners of this house it would be permissible to build a swimming pool, storage or garage there. To the side of the house, outside of the garden, the property also comes with its own parking, with space for 2 cars comfortably. The current owner also has permission in place from the council to build a woodshed just behind the parking.
The village of Tene is nestled in the hills overlooking the Quirós valley but unlike some other villages the access is very good with a wide road leading up. This means it’s about 15 minutes to the local town of Barzana which has a medical centre, school, shops, bars and restaurants (and even a swimming pool in summer) and the house is only 40 minutes south of the capital, Oviedo and just over an hour to the beaches on the north coast.
Quirós, in the heart of the Parque Natural de las Ubiñas, is a stunningly beautiful, unspoilt location which is just perfect for nature lovers and those who enjoy the great outdoors. There are endless excellent hiking trails and peaks to climb, some of Spain’s best sports climbing, excellent local cuisine and bird and wildlife spotting opportunities including the Cantabrian brown bear and wolves. As well as this, just below the house is the famous ‘Senda del Oso’ cycling path as well as large reservoir which can be swum or kayaked. A truly special place.
