A very interesting and quite unusual property, this is a large, three-storey, detached, traditional Asturian house set in its own walled gardens of around 2000m2.  Built at the end of the 19th century the construction and layout of the house is very typical of traditional Asturian architecture, stone built throughout and with a large glass-enclosed gallery or ‘galeria’.  Although in reasonable overall condition, with beautiful chestnut floors and many stunning original features, it is in need of modernisation/renovation and a bit of ‘TLC’ to restore it to its former glory. Interestingly, the property is over three floors with plenty of internal space meaning that it would be very feasible to create a separate apartment for rental purposes.

The house divides as follows;
Ground floor: There are five rooms including a kitchen and living room and an additional storeroom. It is distributed in two clearly differentiated spaces, on the one hand a covered porch facing south and open to the farm by a colonnade of five stone columns and the interior space formed by three quadrangular rooms, and warehouse.
First floor: Accessed by an internal staircase from the ground floor or by an external access door from the street, consists of five bedrooms, two rooms, gallery, bathroom and hall.
Second floor: A large loft space with dormer window is divided into three parts all of which could be made into completely independent rooms.
The walled garden is around 2000m2, well-maintained and features three separate buildings including an old laundry room with an artisan well, a six-pillared horreo (known as a panera) with a storeroom underneath and the third is an old barn set up as a stable/warehouse. The land also comes with mature fruit trees.

The house is located in the town of Santianes, near to Pravia which is famous as being the capital of the kingdom of Spain under King Silo in the eighth century. The pre-Romanesque church of Santianes built in the 8th century by King Silo and his wife Adosinda is another local landmark and is part of the court complex which included the royal palace. The property is also very well connected so, as well as having a train station less than 100 meters away, its only 3 km from the bustling town of Pravia and just 10 km from the nearest beach areas. Finally, it’s only about 25 minutes to Aviles, one of the three largest towns in Asturias with cinemas, shopping centres,  theatres and cultural centres.
