This traditional stone-built mountain cabaña was renovated to provide a cosy retreat in a stunning location in the Natural Park of Ponga but unfortunately in recent years (thanks to the pandemic) it has been neglected and now is in need of renovation to bring it back up to scratch. In particular, a leak around the chimney (subsequently patched but not fully resolved) has caused damage in the kitchen and in an upstairs room. In the kitchen the range cooker has rusted out as a result and there is water damage on the walls. The price has been reduced to reflect this. Despite these recent (fixable!) woes the property still has those spectacular views on all sides and a sense of splendid isolation, at the same time enjoying good road access right to the edge of the property. The location really is something special.
The cabin is off-grid and currently relies on a generator as well as solar panels for its energy needs. Due to lack of use the batteries for the solar would need replacing. It is on a local spring water supply and it has a wood-fuelled range cooker for heating purposes. These kind of rustic properties really do need regular use and attention to keep them at their cosy, lovely best and it really pains us to see this property sitting empty and suffering as a result.
The cabin sits in its own land of a little over 8,000m2 and has a separate stone-built barn tucked away in another corner of the field. Work has begun on renovating this other building also but it has not been completed and it remains a blank canvas for the new owner. An ideal location for lovers of the great outdoors. The property backs out onto open countryside and walking and bridle paths that criss cross the surrounding peaks.
This is the kind of rustic property that is becoming increasingly difficult to find, especially in such an accessible yet uniquely beautiful and unspoilt location.
